With its research background in the physics and technology of nuclear fusion, the research unit is involved in the educational activities of the university at all levels. We are responsible for a number of course units in the bachelor and master years of students in the university's engineering and physics programs. We also offer projects and master thesis topics related to our research activities, and we regularly hire new PhD students.
On the European scene, infusion represents UGent as a core partner in the European Master of Science in Nuclear Fusion and Engineering Physics (FUSION-EP) and the CTU–UGent bilateral Joint Doctoral Programme in High-Temperature Plasma Physics and Thermonuclear Fusion (FUSION-bJDP).
Course units
The infusion group is involved in teaching for the following course units at UGent:
- Continuum Mechanics
- Magnetohydrodynamics of Plasmas
- Physics of Waves and Particles (in Dutch)
- Plasma Physics
- Plasma Technology and Fusion Technology
FUSION-EP
The European Master of Science in Nuclear Fusion and Engineering Physics (FUSION-EP) is a two-year master program organized by a consortium of eight universities in five European countries, including Ghent University. The program provides a thorough foundation in master-level engineering physics, specializing in the physics and technology of fusion energy. There is an important international component involving language & culture, as well as experimentation and social events. The program is supported by the EU with about 15 grants per year.
