Sebastian Konewko is a theoretical physicist and mechanical engineer. His previous work concerned shaped charge automated design and BTZ quasi-normal modes. Additionally, he was employed by Rockwell Automation where he gained experience in industrial communications.
His current research aims at modeling plasma instabilities in fusion environments, specifically the onset and evolution of edge-localized modes. To do this, he is developing a grid-based Vlasov code which will capture features of the plasma kinetics that are otherwise lost in other approaches. Additionally, he is integrating adaptive mesh refinement into the simulation suite for computational speed-up.
